New Year, New You?

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Here we are folks…its 2009.  Colby and I are moved into a new place.  We’re still getting settled, but it feels so good to be out of that shit hole that we lived in for so long.  Starting the year with a decent place to live has revived my motivation to do something with my life.  Now, I’m not going overboard or anything.  I’m just saying that it is time for us to get on track and make some real goals for ourselves and our future.

Colby started a new job…well, an old job really.  He went back for the 3rd time in November ‘08.  He is working as a field technician servicing fire extinguishers.  It is a good, stable job with benefits.  It feels good to have that added stability that comes with a job that’s not seasonal.  Work for me has been slow.  I guess there are fewer people eating out these days, or they’re just not eating at the pub.  Also I am noticing a growing trend in BAD TIPPERS.  (The bane of my existence.)

2008 was a particularly rough year for me.  My bond with my dog, Gonzo, was so strong. I still think about his little face every day.  I miss him a lot now, but I suspect it is going to get worse as spring and summer approches.  He was my partner in crime. I love Lily and all, but she is old and can’t really go very many places.  In a way, it is probably a good thing that we are only allowed to have one dog at a time here.  Otherwise I would have already gotten a new puppy, and I don’t think I am ready for that.  I am thankful for the 2 years I got to spend with my dog…but I feel robbed.

Time heals, tho.  We’ll see how it goes.  I plan to blog at least once a month.
